Arthur Fudem

Arthur passed a little after midnight on August 19, 2026. He had a loving and beautiful marriage to Joy Fudem and leaves 2 sons, Mark and Gary, a daughter Lori, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was born and raised in San Francisco to Regina and Harry Fudem who predeceased him along with his sister Helen Rubin.

Arthur went to Lowell High School, class of 1947, and graduated from UC Berkeley where he played water polo and was a member of the ZBT fraternity. He lifeguarded at Aquatic Park on San Francisco Bay. He was a member of the Air National Guard stationed in Spokane, Washington where he lifeguarded on-base and played competitive volleyball in addition to his official duties.

In his early 50's, Arthur went to night law school and passed the bar while holding down a full-time job with the Rainier Brewery. He never really practiced law except to help friends pro bono. He went back to school because he enjoyed learning. As California sales manager for Rainier, he developed professional relationships and personal friendships with most of his distributors and accounts throughout the state. He also had his real estate broker's license.

Arthur could often be found on Sunday afternoons in the living room doing exercises with Mark, Gary & Lori, and snapping his fingers to Frank Sinatra and Harry Belafonte on the HiFi.

After Joy died, he spent many years in loving companionship with Arlene Miller, whose husband had also died. Both of them played bridge at Temple Emanu-El, and Arthur was part of the men's group.

He finally let go of his failing physical body allowing his soul to be guided by the four archangels to a beautiful loving new home.
