Karen Weiner

Karen Weiner (nee Kricsfeld) of San Francisco passed peacefully surrounded by her loving children on September 3rd, 2026, after enduring a protracted illness.

She was born in Denver, CO, and raised in Omaha, NE. She was the daughter of Joseph and Florence Kricsfeld and brother of Dr. Barry Kricsfeld. She was a proud Midwesterner, graduating from Omaha's Central High School, attending the University of Michigan, and graduating from the University of California at Berkeley.

She met Rabbi Martin S. Weiner as undergraduates and they married, sharing an enduring bond that spanned 63 years. She was a devoted partner in building community with Martin, supporting him with her presence at myriad events. Karen earned a master's degree in social work, taught Middle School, and worked as a Real Estate Broker.

She was a proud, determined, independent woman with a sharp wit, keen sense of humor and a penchant for candor.

Karen was predeceased by her husband in 2022. She is survived by her brother Dr. Barry (Barb) Kricsfeld, her son Rabbi Daniel (Cynthia) Weiner, Ellen (Randall) Stross, and Elizabeth (Josh) Engel; and six grandchildren: Julia (Jake) Callizo, Benjamin Weiner, Jacob Winnick, Alexandra Stross, Jordan Engel and Harrison Engel.
