Harold Morrison Belmont

Harold (Hal) Belmont peacefully passed away on August 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Oklahoma and raised in San Francisco.

Hal was a proud Eagle Scout (Troop 14) and he carried that sense of honor and achievement his whole life. His best lifelong friendships were made at summer camp and college, although he made friends everywhere he went.

Hal served in the National Guard reserves and loved sailing on the Bay. A diehard 49ers fan and season-ticket holder, he followed the team from Kezar Stadium to Candlestick Park. Tailgating at "the stick" with close family and friends were a weekly tradition, and always a fun time even in the rain.

He built a successful printing company, and developed lasting partnerships along the way. Those relationships continued to grow, and today are carried forward by his daughter.

He was an active member of the Concordia Argonaut Club, where he played dominos and basketball for years. The monthly basketball team lunches were among his favorite outings. He spent years as a professional soccer referee as well, always happy to insert order and rules.

Hal was a real people person and made friends wherever he went. He was positive, thoughtful and endlessly generous with both his friendship and his advice. He loved traveling with his family - to Mexico, Hawaii, Tahoe, and Carmel - and cherished his close bonds with his many cousins.

Hal is survived by his wife, Judie; his son, Marc (and Robin); his daughter, Laura and granddaughter, Mila; his sisters Judy Grossman (Gary) and Lynne Belmont Fox; brother Gordon; brother-in-law Charles Shenson (Gayle), sister-in-law Carol Shenson, his beloved doodle, Leo, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
