Marsha Geeser

December 26, 1937 - October 5, 2026

Marsha Geeser, 88 of San Jose, CA, passed away on October 5, 2026 after a long battle with cancer and heart disease. She was born on December 26, 1937, in the Bronx, New York to George and Cele Goldstein. She and her older sister, Marilyn, spent their early years surrounded by countless aunts, uncles and cousins. Her world was filled with family dinners, weekly visits with grandparents and so much love.

She married Sherman Geeser in 1963 and moved to California. That was where they made a home and raised their twins, Sherri and Michael. Life was filled with kids' activities, Jewish community events and many social gatherings with family friends. She worked in retail and then marketing in the electronics industry for 27 years. Marsha was involved in the Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood as well as ORT, a Jewish woman's philanthropy group, where she made lifelong friends of over 60 years! Marsha was also part of a legendary social group called the Kugel Eaters. The group hosted frequent dinner parties and holiday gatherings at Pajaro Dunes.

After retiring to Contra Costa County, she volunteered to read books to children at the Brentwood Library and tutored students at Ron Nunn Elementary School. She was an avid reader and always wanted to share her love of books with people of all ages. Marsha never missed her monthly book club meetings and enjoyed frequent lunches with girlfriends. She also filled her retirement with tap dancing and zumba, MahJongg, crossword puzzles, the symphony and 49er games.

But her greatest joy was being a grandma. She loved her three grandchildren ferociously. She saw them regularly and involved herself in anything and everything they loved to do. Their joy was her joy! She and Sherman took the family on regular vacations around the world as Marsha relished any time she had with her family all together.

Marsha is survived by husband Sherman, children Sherri and Michael (Jordana), and grandchildren Hannah (Alex), Noah and Samantha. She was preceded in death by George (father), Cele (mother) and Marilyn (sister).

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th at 2:30pm at Los Gatos Memorial Gardens followed by a celebration at Temple Emanu-El.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Temple Emanu-El San Jose or Redwood Hospice in San Jose, California.
